More than 1,500 exhibitors from 130 countries at GITEX AFRICA MOROCCO 2024, scheduled for May 29 to 31 in Marrakech


The second edition of GiTEX AFRICA MOROCCO, the largest Tech and start-up exhibition in Africa, will be held from May 29 to 31 in Marrakech with the participation of more than 1,500 exhibitors, representing more than 130 countries.

Placed under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, this international event aims to be a global showcase of technology, innovation and networking as well as a unique acceleration platform for startups and innovative SMEs on a large scale. international.

Initiated by Kaoun international, the international subsidiary of Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), under the aegis of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform and in partnership with the Digital Development Agency (ADD), this major technological event aims to be a hub at the level of a continent in full swing which will promote exchanges on the latest developments in Tech in areas relating in particular to Artificial Intelligence, telecommunications, finance, health, cybersecurity and the cloud.

Speaking at a press conference to present this edition, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour, indicated that the show will experience unprecedented enthusiasm this year with more from 130 countries represented, more than 1,500 exhibitors, 800 emerging companies and a forecast of more than 50,000 visitors.

This commitment, she underlined, reflects the confidence enjoyed by Morocco and its positioning as a regional digital hub, reinforced in this by the great potential of young Moroccan talents who are making a remarkable breakthrough in the digital ecosystem at home. internationally, support for the competitiveness of the Moroccan economy, and support for the private sector as a vector of development.

This exhibition makes it possible to strengthen Morocco’s position as a leader in the field of technology at the continental level, in accordance with the High Guidelines of His Majesty the King, she noted, noting that the 2024 edition will be marked by the organization on the sidelines of the “World Health Future” show, an event dedicated to the latest innovations in the field of health with the participation of the most important international startups specializing in digital health, the aim being to contribute to the development of this sector in Africa.

And to add that the 2024 edition also gives a large place to the different developments in AI by welcoming startups offering new solutions in this area with the aim of converging views on the development of policies capable of regulate its use in Africa.

For his part, the Director General of the ADD, Sidi Mohammed Drissi Melyani indicated that this great digital mass is being held after the great success of the 2023 edition, indicating that the necessary efforts have been made to ensure the success of this edition and achieve the objectives, namely allowing all participants (governments, decision-makers, public and private sector actors and startups) to exchange their experiences and expertise and conclude agreements to contribute to the development of their respective countries and position Morocco on the African continent as an international digital hub.

This edition is intended to be a platform which will allow Morocco to promote the ecosystem of Moroccan startups, he said, adding that it is also a question of promoting digital by promoting international investment at the level of Morocco and the African continent.

For Mr. Melyani, GITEX Africa Morocco 2024 will also contribute to consolidating Africa’s position as a crossroads of technological innovation and strengthening its influence on the global digital scene.

For her part, Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, announced that Morocco, a country committed to the path of digital transformation, will be represented by more than 500 local companies, with a notable increase of 85% compared to the first edition of GITEX Africa.

This growth demonstrates the strengthening and maturity of the Moroccan technological ecosystem, argued Ms. LohMirmand.

GITEX AFRICA MOROCCO 2024 will see the participation of eminent experts and world-renowned specialists as well as political decision-makers, who will come to share their knowledge and expertise around three major themes: “Building a unified digital Africa”, “connectivity” and “the digital cities”.
