The Prime Minister of Canada has prevailed against the President of the United States, qualifying Donald Trump’s decision to impose customs tariffs on Canadian products of “really stupid” and accusing him of wanting to “collapse the economy” of Canada in order to annex him.
A few days before leaving his post, it is a Justin Trudeau incisive, with a more liberated speech, which appeared on Tuesday to reassure the Canadians and respond to the decision of the American president Donald Trump to impose customs duties of 25 % on all imports from Canada.
The Prime Minister of Canada addressed, in turn, to the Americans and the Canadians, but also to President Trump himself, qualifying his decision to launch a trade war against his greater ally of truly stupid.
Donald, even if you are a very intelligent man (…) It’s really stupid what you doLaunched Justin Trudeau by taking up the title of an editorial published by the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal.
After blowing hot and cold for months, the Trump administration finally imposed 25 % customs tariffs on all products imported from Canada and Mexico as well as customs duties of 10 % on Chinese products.
This measure was initially to come into force on February 4, but it was postponed until March 4 following a phone call between Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Trump during which the Canadian Prime Minister had committed to further strengthen the border to combat fentanyl traffic towards the United States, as the President had requested.
