Rising prices and Aid Al Adha

HIBAPRESS-RABAT

In the current conditions of drought and rising prices, many citizens have asked the question about prices when the government authorized the importation of 600,000 sheep in order to supply the sheep herd market for this year.

Red meats have seen an increase in price for several years now. As Aid Al Adha approaches, many citizens have asked the question about sheep prices for this year.

The rise in input prices is universal, as it affects virtually all countries. A good part of livestock feed is imported, particularly corn and soya, knowing that we are dependent on the vagaries of the international market, as well as on the clemency of the sky.

The government has taken certain measures to deal with this scourge. These include the subsidy allocated to support the price of barley and the subsidy of 500 DH per sheep in order to encourage imports. He also decided to authorize the importation of 300,000 head of sheep which he reduced, a few days ago, to 600,000 head, since the importation could even be extended to 1 million head, thus making it possible to supply the market, on the occasion of Aid Al Adha, although the drought that Morocco has been experiencing for six years has had a strong impact on this sector.
