Marrakech – HIBAPRESS
Security interventions during the protest in the Gueliz district of Marrakech, on the evening of Saturday, September 27th, resulted in the arrest of approximately 55 people.
The Gueliz district witnessed intensified security reinforcements, as mentioned in a previous article by HIBAPRESS regarding the aforementioned protest, under the supervision of the security governor, Mohamed Michichou. According to various sources, security forces intervened to disperse the protest, which was considered "unauthorized," and the detainees were taken to the 22nd security district to be questioned and investigated regarding the actions attributed to them, pending the necessary legal measures. – Demands of the protesters: Health and education in a critical situation During the protest, the protesters raised slogans demanding reform of the health and education systems, expressing their discontent with "the deterioration of health services in public hospitals" and "the weakness of the school infrastructure, and the lack of human resources in the education sector." Some civil organizations considered that these actions were a natural reaction to what they described as "the dire conditions experienced by public schools and health centers, especially in popular neighborhoods," calling for a serious dialogue with citizens and responding to their legitimate demands. The intervention of the security authorities sparked a wide debate on social media platforms, with some considering it "necessary to enforce order and respect the law," while others viewed it as "a restriction on freedom of expression and peaceful protest," especially in light of the sensitivity of the social demands raised by the participants.
