Pages on social media have circulated in recent hours a photo of a young child inside a police car, with claims that it was taken in Morocco following the protests taking place in some cities within the "Generation Z" movement.
However, the truth is completely different, as this photo dates back to Algeria in 2021, where it sparked a wide controversy after a child no more than 7 years old was arrested during the Hirak popular protests, which was condemned by local and international human rights organizations at the time. It should be noted that the Algerian authorities faced the Hirak at the time with a repressive policy that included the arrest of demonstrators, including children and women, which left a wave of widespread criticism, at a time when the photo is currently being circulated in a misleading context that it is related to the ongoing protests in Morocco.
