HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
Following the tragic accident witnessed recently at the Ain Diab corniche, when two young men lost their lives in a collision with a luxury "Lamborghini" car, the issue of reckless driving and drifting has returned to the forefront, amid growing demands for stricter monitoring and punishment for reckless drivers.
In this context, a number of visitors to commercial spaces in the Zenata area, especially near the "IKEA" store, have expressed their increasing concern about the phenomenon of "drifting" or what is locally known as "zero," which is practiced by young people and teenagers to show off their dangerous driving skills. These practices usually take place late at night or during weekend evenings, which poses a direct threat to their safety and the safety of other visitors. Eyewitnesses pointed out that some drivers turn the surroundings of the shopping center into an illegal race track, in the absence of a strong deterrent, which raises fears of a repeat of the tragic Ain Diab scenario. For their part, citizens and residents of the area demanded urgent and decisive intervention by the security authorities, through intensifying patrols and tightening monitoring of this type of dangerous practices, stressing that lives are more valuable than any display or risk-taking on the roads. Observers believe that firmness in applying the law, along with continuous awareness of the dangers of reckless driving, has become a necessity to curb these behaviors that threaten the safety of society and tarnish the image of the city.
