HIBAPRESS – Chafiq Anouri
The Algerian regime's dreams of exploiting the minerals of Ghar Jbiliat in the Tindouf province continue to collide with the state of insecurity and the growth of criminal activities in the region.
The Chinese company overseeing the railway project, which is supposed to connect Ghar Jbiliat with the Tindouf province, was hit with a new blow, after a number of its workers were kidnapped.
A document attributed to the so-called "Criminal Court" in the Tindouf camps revealed the growth of criminal gangs' activities, as it stated that the Chinese company's workers were kidnapped along with the car they were driving.
The document stated that a black Toyota Hilux double-cabin vehicle was in the possession of workers belonging to the Chinese company working on the "railway project on the road leading to Ghar Jbiliat" and was subjected to "kidnapping".
The document carried a permit from the so-called "Public Prosecutor" Yarbana Ahmed Hanoud, to search every private or public garage in the Smara camp, after eyewitnesses confirmed the vehicle's entry into the area after being stolen.
It is worth mentioning that Ghar Jbiliat, which is the largest iron ore mine in the world, is an unexploited project that was the subject of a bilateral agreement between Morocco and Algeria that stipulated the joint exploitation of its resources, before it was violated by the "Al-Muradia Palace" which began to prepare the railway and road network to begin extracting its minerals.
