The White House expressed its displeasure at the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize Committee's decision not to award the prize to US President Donald Trump, accusing the committee of prioritizing politics over peace efforts.
White House Communications Director Stephen Cheung said in a post on the "X" platform that Trump "will continue to conclude peace agreements and end wars," stressing that "he has a human heart, and there will be no one like him who can move mountains with his will." Cheung considered that the Nobel Committee ignored what he described as "the efforts made by Trump to stop international conflicts," adding that this decision "proves that the committee prefers political calculations over honoring peacemakers." This stance comes after the announcement of the Venezuelan Maria Corina Machado's win of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her struggle to promote democratic rights in Venezuela. It is worth mentioning that Trump had previously been nominated for the prize on more than one occasion due to his role in some diplomatic agreements, but the committee has not yet awarded him the prize.
