This Monday morning, Diza beach in Martil witnessed a state of security alert after the sea washed ashore a headless body, which is believed to belong to an undocumented migrant.
Upon being notified, elements of the Civil Protection went to the scene, where they worked to retrieve the body, while local and security authorities launched a field investigation to ascertain the circumstances of the incident and identify the victim. According to preliminary data, the body belongs to an Algerian citizen who was wearing swimwear, which reinforces the hypothesis of his attempt to swim towards Ceuta in an irregular manner. The body has been transferred to the mortuary at the Saniat R'mel Regional Hospital in Tetouan, pending the results of the medical and security investigation, in order to determine the real causes of death and the circumstances of the mysterious accident.
