A new victory for the Egyptian artist Sherine Abdel Wahab against the “Rotana” company, after the Court of Cassation issued a final ruling rejecting the appeal submitted by the company against her, and obligating it to pay the expenses and lawyers' fees.
Sherine's lawyer, Counselor Yasser Kantoush, explained in a post on his official “Facebook” page that this ruling gives the artist the full right to release her songs and contract with any production entity without any restrictions, stressing that the decision represents a culmination of a series of long legal battles between the two parties. The judicial dispute dates back to November 2022, when the "Rotana" company filed a lawsuit against Sherine, demanding financial compensation, against the backdrop of a contract concluded in 2019 to produce two albums, each album containing 10 songs, in addition to the artist’s commitment to a specific number of concerts for the company. Sherine said that the reason for canceling the contract with Rotana was the company's failure to adhere to several agreed-upon clauses, most notably the advertising and promotional campaigns for the albums, which led to the emergence of disputes that required resorting to the judiciary. This ruling is considered a new victory for the artist after a previous victory in similar cases against the company, which enhances her artistic independence and gives her greater freedom in managing her professional career without contractual restrictions.
