Dakhla is moving and in the best sense since it has become a rotating part of the diplomatic dynamics of the Kingdom of Morocco around its access policy especially on its sovereignty over its Sahara and a point of reference for those who work for the futuristic development which interests just as much Africa as Europe or Latin America and other horizons

By hosting a myriad of regional, continental and international events, the city of Dakhla has continued to be the beating heart of diplomatic dynamics serving the defense of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and consolidating the foundations of a lasting and fruitful partnership with African countries.

The pearl of the South hosted a series of bilateral meetings between Morocco and countries on the continent and saw the opening of consular representations of a number of sister states, thus consolidating the leading role of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region in strengthening ties between the Kingdom and its African depth.

This diplomatic vocation of Dakhla was confirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad Nasser Bourita who noted that this city recently hosted no less than four joint commissions of cooperation between Morocco and the states of Comoros, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso and Guinea.

The work of these commissions saw the signing of 44 cooperation agreements, which denotes the importance of the diplomatic place that the city of Dakhla now occupies as a gateway and essential axis of cooperation between Morocco and its African depth.

In detail, Dakhla hosted the 3rd session of the Morocco-Sierra Leone joint commission which provided an opportunity to examine new horizons for the consolidation of cooperative relations and to establish fruitful partnerships in many areas, in accordance with the Guidelines. Heads of State of the two countries, HM King Mohammed VI and President Julius Maada Bio.

The work of this session was crowned by the signing of 13 agreements covering several areas of bilateral cooperation, including investment, professional training, judicial cooperation, trade, tourism, housing, diplomatic training and energies. renewable.

Dakhla also hosted the 7th session of the Morocco-Guinea Joint Cooperation Commission which was marked by the signing of eight agreements and conventions covering numerous areas. The holding of this session as well as the importance of the signed agreements reflect Morocco’s clear desire to continue and further strengthen its economic cooperation and political dialogue with this sister country.

On the sidelines of this session, an installation ceremony of the Consul General of the Republic of Guinea in Dakhla, Soriba Camara, was organized in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Guineans established abroad, Morissada Kouyaté.

Likewise, Dakhla, which is home to several diplomatic representations of African, Arab and Latin American countries, recently saw the opening of a consulate general of the Republic of Togo, a country which has always been a credible voice on the issue of Moroccan Sahara at the level of regional and international bodies.

The Republic of Cape Verde also recently opened a consulate general in Dakhla, marking its firm support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

In this context, the Cabo Verdean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, Rui Alberto De Figueiredo Soares, stressed that “the opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Cabo Verde in Dakhla expresses support for the Plan of Autonomy presented by Morocco and the efforts of the UN to find a credible and realistic solution to the resolution of the dispute over the Sahara” and expresses the desire to consolidate bilateral relations between the two countries.

The city of Dakhla also hosted the work of the first African meeting, initiated by the association of immigrants in Morocco (Dakhla section), under the theme “The challenges of integrating migrants from sub-Saharan Africa in the city of Dakhla.”

Organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of Senegal in Dakhla and the Association for Advanced Regionalization and Autonomy in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, this event aimed to address the issue of integrating sub-Saharan migrants into several areas, notably social, educational, economic and health.

This meeting highlighted the efforts made by the authorities in terms of the integration of migrants, particularly in Dakhla, which, due to its potential, welcomes more and more migrants from sub-Saharan Africa operating in various economic sectors and who contribute to the development process, both in their host country and in their countries of origin.
