King Mohammed VI chaired a ministerial council today, Sunday, at the Royal Palace in Rabat.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 49 of the Constitution, and at the proposal of the Head of Government, and on the initiative of the Minister of Interior, His Majesty the King appointed a number of walis and governors in the territorial administration. In this regard, His Majesty appointed Hassan Zitouni as governor of Azilal province. Hassan Zitouni holds a doctorate in law and a master's degree in public law. Zitouni, a graduate of the Royal Institute of Territorial Administration, began his professional career in 1993 as a caid in Khouribga province, then as a caid, head of the internal affairs department in Khouribga province (2001) and head of a district, and head of the internal affairs department in Tetouan province (2004). Zitouni, 59 years old, held the position of head of a district in 2010, and then head of the internal affairs department in the prefecture of Fez, and secretary-general of the same prefecture in 2011. In 2016, he was appointed by His Majesty the King as governor of Nouaceur province, then governor of Tinghir province (2019) and then governor of Al Hoceima province (2023).
