HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Zariouh
This year, the ministerial curricula for public schools are witnessing a major problem, whether for textbooks intended for regular public schools or for the books of pioneering schools. This challenge reflects a series of problems that directly affect students and their families, in addition to the educational community as a whole.
One of the main reasons for this crisis is the non-compliance with the terms of reference by publishers, especially regarding printing schedules and deadlines agreed upon with the ministry. This delay reflects negatively on the schools' readiness to receive students at the beginning of the school year. Also, the percentage allocated to booksellers, which sometimes reaches 7%, is not even enough to cover transportation costs from the source to the store, which increases financial burdens.
Regarding textbooks, there is a noticeable shortage in some curricula that have not yet been printed, and sometimes some late books arrive at schools late, which causes a disruption in the learning process for students. This large shortage of books exacerbates the problem of delaying the start of lessons, as students are forced to use unofficial copies or rely on materials available on the Internet.
On the other hand, the Nador region is experiencing the same problem and is considered a living model of this crisis. Many educational institutions in Nador have witnessed significant delays in providing textbooks, which negatively affected the progress of the educational process. Also, the delay in sending the lists from the educational institutions to the students exacerbates the situation, as it is difficult for families to determine the required books in a timely manner.
Despite these challenges, the greatest responsibility remains on the Ministry of National Education to ensure the provision of textbooks on time and to standardize their distribution mechanism. Publishers should also adhere to the terms of the terms of reference to avoid repeating these problems in the future.
