The Moroccan Capital Market Authority announced on Friday the publication of its annual report for the year 2024.

The Authority stated in a press release that this report provides a comprehensive overview of the activities of the Moroccan capital market, as well as the measures taken by the Authority during the past year.

Referring to the economic context, financing, and the resilience of actors, the report indicated that the national economy demonstrated a noticeable resilience in 2024, driven by a slightly higher growth than that recorded in 2023 and a relaxation in monetary policy.

In this context, the contribution of the capital market to financing the national economy increased significantly, with fundraising operations in the private debt market reaching approximately 101 billion dirhams in 2024, compared to 87 billion in 2023, while the total funds raised for equity securities reached 6.3 billion dirhams, including 1.1 billion dirhams raised through an initial public offering (IPO).

The rise in the main stock market indicators confirms an upward trend, as the "MASI" index recorded an increase of 22.2 percent in 2024.

This performance was accompanied by an increase in the market capitalization of the stock exchange, which reached 752.44 billion dirhams at the end of December 2024, representing an annual increase of 20.18 percent and an increase in the total transaction volume, which reached approximately 99 billion dirhams, an increase of 52.29 percent compared to 2023.

The report highlighted that ensuring the security and integrity of the market remained a priority for the Moroccan Capital Market Authority, as evidenced by a significant intensification of its supervisory and control tasks, with the Authority carrying out 35 monitoring missions in 2024, an increase of nearly 20 percent compared to 2023 and 94 percent compared to 2022.

Based on these achievements, the Authority intends to continue its relentless efforts to promote the development of the capital market and increase its contribution to financing the national economy.

The strategic orientations for the coming years will focus, in particular, on implementing the strategic plan for the period between 2024 and 2028, as well as continuing to update the regulatory framework governing the entire capital market.
