This Saturday morning, November 8, 2025, at the headquarters of the Taza Province, the installation of Rachid Benchikhi as the new governor of the province took place in an official ceremony chaired by the Minister of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sports, Mohamed Saad Barada. This occurred within the framework of the transitional movement approved by the Ministry of Interior among the walis and governors.
The installation ceremony was attended by the Wali of the Fes-Meknes region, Khalid Aït Taleb, and the former governor, Mustafa Al-Maaza, along with judicial and security officials, elected officials, heads of territorial communities, representatives of political and trade union bodies, civil society figures, media and human rights figures.
In his speech on the occasion, Minister Mohamed Saad Barada praised Mr. Benchikhi's professional career and his accumulated experience in the field of managing territorial affairs, considering that his appointment embodies the royal will to establish the authority of proximity and enhance local governance based on effectiveness and listening.
The Minister confirmed that the next stage requires doubling efforts and accelerating the pace of development work in the province, while making the fight against social disparities, bringing basic services closer, and supporting social initiatives at the heart of the priorities, stressing the importance of openness to citizens and adopting the participatory approach to solve the problems related to fragility, poverty and basic infrastructure.
The Minister also took the opportunity to pay special tribute to the former governor, Mustafa Al-Maaza, in appreciation of the efforts he made throughout his term of responsibility since 2018, as well as his contribution to addressing a number of development and social files in the province.
At the end of the ceremony, figures and events of the province came forward to greet the new governor and bid farewell to the former governor, before taking commemorative photos that immortalized the moment of institutional transition, in a message that reflects the continuity of administrative work with a spirit of responsibility and integration, serving local development in the Taza province.
