Brazilian political expert Fábio Albargaria de Queiroz stated that the southern provinces of Morocco represent, thanks to their remarkable dynamism, a clear example of the success of the Kingdom's comprehensive and sustainable development model.
In an interview with the Moroccan News Agency on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Green March, De Queiroz highlighted that the southern provinces "provide eloquent testimony to the success of Morocco's strategy in comprehensive and sustainable development." They form a main lever for the Moroccan model in regional development and a fundamental pillar for its Atlantic radiance. De Queiroz stressed that "the profound economic and social transformations that the southern provinces have witnessed reflect the success of a vision based on territorial justice and sustainability," adding that cities like Laayoune and Dakhla have risen to the ranks of regional growth centers, driven by huge investments in various sectors (infrastructure, education, health, renewable energies, and others). He added that these well-known and recognized developments have improved the quality of life of local residents and enhanced the image of a rising and modern Morocco, which is resolutely moving towards the future. He pointed out that "integrated territorial development is not only a local priority but is a fundamental pillar of Moroccan foreign policy towards Africa." Thus, the sustainable and multi-dimensional development of the southern provinces, the speaker says, will allow these provinces to play a crucial role in strengthening relations between Africa and Latin America. He pointed to the Dakhla Atlantic port project as a prominent example of these initiatives and measures taken, with the aim of linking the region to African and trans-Atlantic value chains. The Brazilian expert explained that Morocco, thanks to its geostrategic location, enjoys an ideal position to promote new partnerships between Africa and Latin America, especially through its southern provinces, highlighting their pivotal role in this new Atlantic geo-economic landscape. The speaker continued that Morocco's solidarity with its African roots is also reflected through the many initiatives launched by King Mohammed VI, especially the Atlantic Royal Initiative, recalling that the latter aims to unite the twenty-three African countries overlooking the Atlantic Ocean around common priorities: security, stability, and common prosperity, pointing out that "the Atlantic is a zone of peace and common development, capable of serving the interests of the countries of Africa and South America." The Brazilian political expert considered that this vision, led by His Majesty the King, "reinforces Morocco's Atlantic and African orientation" and consolidates the Kingdom's position as a key player in reshaping the Atlantic space geostrategically, and a driving force for stability and cooperation between the continents.
