The Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance in Al Hoceima issued severe sentences against two people accused in files related to trafficking in hard drugs and assaulting public officials while performing their duties.
The ruling body sentenced the first defendant to seven years in prison, with a fine of 20,000 dirhams, after being convicted of charges related to the possession and trafficking of hard drugs of the "cocaine" type, in addition to threatening and violence against public officials and insulting them, disobedience, and possession of drugs under aggravating circumstances according to Article 181 of the Penal Code. As for the second defendant, he was sentenced to six years in prison and a similar fine of 20,000 dirhams, after being followed for the same charges, including trafficking in cocaine and collective agreement, in addition to the unjustified possession of drugs. In the civil aspect, the court responded to the requests of the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, and ruled to obligate the accused to pay the amount of 21,700 dirhams in solidarity for the benefit of the administration, while bearing the expenses and compulsion at the lowest level. The court also ordered the destruction of the seized quantities of drugs seized from the accused.
