HIBAPRESS – Rabat
In response to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health last night, MP Abdellah Bouanou considered that the statement did not provide any clarification or denial regarding the data he presented during the general session to discuss the recent finance bill, which addressed suspicions of corruption and conflicts of interest related to a drug deal.
Bouanou described the statement as "rhetorical and full of generalities that are not useful." He also expressed his regret that the Ministry of Health had turned into a "spokesperson for known lobbies" instead of focusing on improving public services in health and social protection. Bouanou said: "The midnight statement did not provide any indication or data about our intervention, and did not clarify the issue of temporary use licenses ATU, which are shrouded in complete ambiguity, and it is the first time that national public opinion follows this type of license after we raised it in the Justice and Development parliamentary group. The ministry must explain the procedures for these licenses and publish a list of the benefiting companies with the names of their owners to enhance transparency." Bouanou confirmed that the Ministry of Health's statement did not address any details about his interventions, calling on the ministry for full transparency regarding temporary use licenses ATU, and publishing the names of the benefiting companies and their owners. The MP stressed his and his team's determination to continue their supervisory role, saying: "We did not endure all these years to be frightened by midnight statements," adding that the real solution to what the issue raised is to form a parliamentary committee to investigate the facts about drug licenses and their import.
