A man in his fifties died on Friday evening in a horrific accident that occurred inside his modest dwelling in the Boblaw – Qantira neighborhood of Nador, as a result of a sudden fire that consumed the room he was staying in.
According to local sources, the victim lived alone in a small room that did not exceed four square meters in area, where he relied on a candle to light the place. It appears that the candle accidentally fell on the blankets and accumulated pieces of cloth, which led to the rapid outbreak of fire. With the spread of the fire in the room, the man passed away in his place before the arrival of the civil protection men, who were able to control the fire and extinguish it later. The victim's body was transferred to the mortuary at Al-Hassani Hospital in Nador, while the security authorities opened an investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecution to determine the details of the incident and determine its causes. It is worth noting that this accident raises new concerns about the safety of people who use candles as a source of lighting, which necessitates the need to take greater precautions in such circumstances.
