HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyawi
A number of residents of the municipalities and districts of Ifrane province point to their concern regarding the follow-up of local issues by their elected parliamentary representatives, especially concerning infrastructure and basic services, which are still facing delays in actual solutions despite raising these problems for some time.
Citizens reported that communication with parliamentarians is nearly limited, and that some local issues do not receive the necessary follow-up within the legislative institution, which sometimes makes them rely on their own initiatives to address some simple problems, while major issues remain unaddressed.
Civil society actors believe that the parliamentary role extends to continuous follow-up of local issues, informing citizens about legislative initiatives and decisions taken, while providing clear channels for dialogue and communication.
In this context, public opinion raises questions about how the legislative elections will pass this year in Ifrane province, and the extent of the local authority's ability to fully engage to ensure successful organization and effective participation of citizens, especially in light of the challenges related to services and local development.
Residents express their hope that parliamentarians will keep pace with their issues regularly, and that the local authority will contribute to providing support and follow-up, which enhances confidence in representative institutions and ensures a better response to local expectations.
