HIBAPRESS – Ahmed Al-Musaed
In a special security operation, elements of the Royal Gendarmerie in Beni Drar managed on Saturday evening, November 22nd, to arrest four people suspected of involvement in a smuggling operation on the border strip. The arrest took place at the level of the Douar of Ouled Hammou, belonging to the municipality and leadership of Beni Khaled, administratively under the province of Oujda-Angad. According to informed sources, the four arrested were caught in possession of a quantity of drugs, with a total of 6.5 kilograms of hashish seized from them, as well as a small-sized "drone" aircraft. It is believed that the gang was using this remote-controlled aircraft to pass drugs across the border strip.
The four suspects were taken to the Royal Gendarmerie center for investigation, and placed under theoretical custody, under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, to determine all the circumstances of this case, and to uncover any extensions or potential partners of this network.
This operation comes within the framework of the continuous efforts made by the Royal Gendarmerie services to tighten the noose on cross-border smuggling networks and combat crime in all its forms, especially those that use modern technologies in their illegal activities.
