On Sunday evening, the program "Andalusians Around the World" arrived in Al Hoceima, presenting a special episode that documented the presence of the Andalusian community in northern Morocco.
The program highlighted the experiences of Andalusians who chose this coastal region as a new home, combining tranquility, a maritime character, and the diversity of local life. According to what was published on the "Canal Sur" website, journalist Lucia Tornero moved between the neighborhoods, beaches, and markets of Al Hoceima to meet Andalusians who had settled in the city, discovering the details of their lives and their relationship with the local community, which combines rural traditions and modernity in an environment that attracts residents and visitors alike. The program began its meetings with Mauricio Gonzalez, a professor from Seville who settled in Al Hoceima in search of a new experience. The journalist accompanied him on a tour of Quemado beach, known for its slopes and clear waters, before visiting the Spanish Institute in the city, which is a historical educational institution that still represents a cultural bridge between Morocco and Spain. In another part of the episode, Tornero met Felisa Sanchez, who came from Chiclana, where she accompanied her to the fish market, which is the center of maritime activity in Al Hoceima, before tasting the traditional couscous dish. The path continued with Manuel Canovas from Algeciras, a priest from the Trinitarian Order, where she visited with him the Church of St. Joseph, which is a meeting point for the Christian community, and then moved to Rif Square, which is one of the most important public spaces in the city. The journalist also accompanied Libertad del Moral, a teacher from Seville, on a tour that included one of the balconies overlooking the Mediterranean, before visiting the traditional market filled with spices, fabrics, and local products. The episode stopped at the experience of Andres Nieto, who came from Marbella, and who works as a hotel manager for an international chain. He presented a tour of the recreational port and introduced the rock opposite Al Hoceima, in addition to the tourist resort that he supervises, before moving to Sfiha beach, known for its calm sands and its view of the rock. The program extended to the city of Nador to meet Francisco Torres, who came from Seville, who has been living in the city for fourteen years and manages a kitchen manufacturing company. The journalist accompanied him on a tour of the commercial district, and they watched local scenes of beauty wandering among passersby in a striking image for visitors to the region. Through this tour, the program presented a comprehensive picture of the presence of the Andalusian community in northern Morocco and the depth of the human and cultural ties that bring together the Andalusians with the cities of the Moroccan Rif.
