Iranian security forces arrested human rights activist Narges Mohammadi, the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, on Friday during her participation in the weekly memorial ceremony for the death of an Iranian lawyer, according to the foundation defending her.
The foundation explained that Mohammadi, who had been granted temporary release from prison in December 2024, was arrested along with a number of activists during their participation in the memorial service for lawyer Khosro Ali Kordi, who was found dead in his office last week. In the same context, her husband Taghi Rahmani, residing in Paris, reported via his account on the "X" platform that the arrest took place in the city of Mashhad, eastern Iran, indicating that Mohammadi was arrested along with the well-known activist Sepideh Gholian.
