Dr. Khalid Izza, director of Mohammed V Hospital in Safi, confirmed that an emergency plan has been activated to receive the injured following the floods that the region witnessed on Sunday.
Dr. Izza explained that this plan includes the summoning of medical, nursing, and administrative staff, and the mobilization of the necessary human and logistical capabilities.
He added that the hospital has mobilized 50 beds dedicated to these cases, with the possibility of extending the capacity to other departments when necessary.
He stressed that all the necessary equipment is available, such as a CT scanner, X-ray machines, ultrasound, and medical analyzes, in addition to logistical means such as blankets, etc., confirming that there is no shortage at the level of the hospital's intervention.
Also included in this mobilization, adds Dr. Izza, was the summoning of five doctors in the emergency department, two anesthesiologists, a doctor in orthopedic surgery, and a doctor in neurosurgery.
Dr. Izza recorded that the emergency services received, as of six o'clock on Sunday evening, a total of 61 cases, including two cases that were kept in the intensive care unit, where their health condition remains stable as of this hour.
Also, 18 other injured people were hospitalized who were suffering from a sharp drop in body temperature.
The hospital director explained that the cases that were under follow-up this morning were in good condition, as 13 injured people left the hospital, while five cases are still receiving treatment, in addition to two cases in the intensive care unit whose condition is stable, and they are expected to leave the department during the evening or tomorrow.
He concluded that "the situation is under control thanks to the readiness and mobilization that the hospital witnessed, which enabled the provision of various forms of health care to patients."
