HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, confirmed on Monday from Parliament that the new investment charter represents a historic turning point in the Moroccan economy after 26 years of postponement. He explained that the charter is not limited to stimulating investment, but also enhances social and spatial justice by directing projects towards remote areas and creating sustainable job opportunities.
Since the charter came into effect in March 2023, 250 investment projects have been approved at a cost of 414 billion dirhams, and these projects are expected to contribute to the creation of approximately 179,000 direct and indirect jobs. Akhannouch, in his response to questions from parliamentarians during the monthly questioning session, on the subject: "Public policy related to small and very small enterprises," stressed the expansion of the powers of the regions in studying projects from 100 million dirhams to 250 million dirhams, which contributed to the study of 103 regional projects and the approval of 55 of them with investments of 5.8 billion dirhams, to create about 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. The Head of Government concluded by emphasizing that the new charter enhances the territorial dimension of investment, strengthens regional governance, and puts Morocco on the path of balanced development and reducing disparities between regions.
