The Royal Gendarmerie company of El Jadida received, last Friday, around 9:10 AM, a report from the motorcycle squad on the Bouskoura highway, stating that a Renault Kangoo car (Spanish license plate) did not comply with the stop signals at the Bouskoura toll gate; it continued on its way towards Safi, passing through the A1 highway. All patrols belonging to the El Jadida company, deployed as part of their regular duties along the highway, were immediately alerted.
The operation resulted in the interception of the car at a point on regional road RP 3410, which connects national road No. 1 with regional road No. 301, near the Fahs area, the center and commune of Moulay Abdellah. During the intervention of the El Jadida gendarmerie elements, the driver abandoned the car and fled on foot towards the adjacent agricultural fields, leaving his passenger, named (A.), inside it. The immediate combing operation of the area led to the identification of the whereabouts of the suspected fugitive, called (J.), who hails from Souk Arbaa El Gharb, and his arrest later that day, specifically around 10:30 PM. The search of the car revealed quantities of drugs hidden in its back trunk, namely: 220 kilograms of kif (cannabis); 50 kilograms of tobacco; and 15 kilograms of hashish. The verification of the identity of the suspect revealed that he was wanted under 8 national search warrants, issued by various authorities, for the same criminal acts. After notifying the competent Public Prosecution of the facts, it ordered the arrest of the two people involved, the confiscation of the car, and the transfer of the drugs to the Customs and Indirect Taxes Department in El Jadida. This operation comes to consolidate the actual security cooperation and coordination between the regional command of the Royal Gendarmerie of Casablanca and its counterpart, the El Jadida gendarmerie, especially with regard to combating drug smuggling, especially Indian cannabis, the demand for which increases during the holy month of Ramadan.
