HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Abdellatif Jouahri, the Wali of Bank Al-Maghrib, said that the bank has made significant strides within the framework of the strategy to reduce reliance on "cash," stressing that the ball is now in the government's court to complete the necessary procedures and legislation to support this initiative.
Jawahiri explained that the goal of the strategy is to enhance financial inclusion and encourage electronic payments, which contributes to greater transparency and efficiency in the national financial system. Jawahiri added, during a press conference held in Rabat and dedicated to discussing monetary policy decisions, that Bank Al-Maghrib has established clear mechanisms and plans to facilitate the transition towards an economy less dependent on cash, but it needs legislative and regulatory support from the government to generalize these practices across all economic sectors.
