HIBAPRESS
The Ministry of Equipment and Water confirmed that, following the warning bulletin issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology, which forecasts heavy snowfall on the highlands exceeding 1400 m (10 – 80 cm) in a number of provinces located in the High and Middle Atlas Mountains, the Rif Mountains, and the Eastern High Plateau, and heavy thunderstorms with measurements ranging between 25 and 65 mm in a number of provinces of the Kingdom until tomorrow, Wednesday, it is likely that some road axes belonging to these provinces will experience traffic disruptions, urging road users to postpone their travels to and from or through them.
In a statement, the ministry urged road users to prepare for travel in advance by monitoring the mechanical condition of vehicles (tire pressure, brakes, lighting, wipers and windshield washer fluid, sufficient fuel supply, air conditioning condition), in addition to taking caution, especially on the axes that are likely to be flooded, such as depressions and road crossing points for valleys and ravines. The ministry also called for not risking passing during the rise of the water level of the valleys on the pavements that are prone to flooding, not to exceed the speed limit and avoid any sudden overtaking or maneuver, as well as respecting the safety distance between vehicles. The statement emphasized the need for drivers to respect traffic signs and comply with the instructions of the local authorities and the teams of the territorial directorates of the ministry, which are constantly present on the concerned road axes in order to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
