Lhassan Essadi, Secretary of State in charge of Traditional Industry, Social and Solidarity Economy, and Mohamed Saleh Tamak, General Delegate for the Administration of Prisons and Reintegration, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, inaugurated the official launch of the "Moroccan Handicraft Treasures" program in penitentiary institutions, specifically at the local prison in Tamesna.
The launch of this program comes as a culmination of a partnership agreement signed between the Secretariat of State in charge of Traditional Industry, Social and Solidarity Economy, and the General Delegation for the Administration of Prisons and Reintegration, in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Inmates. The program includes the training of female and male inmates in a range of traditional crafts, including Tetouani zellige, Salé embroidery, embroidered saddlery, embroidered leather saddlery, and southern plant-based crafts. These trainings will enable inmates to develop their cognitive and craft skills, which will qualify them and facilitate their reintegration into the socio-professional environment after their release.
