Today, Friday, approximately 1200 students were evacuated from a private French school in the French city of Bayonne, after the school administration received a threatening message stating the presence of explosives inside the building, according to local media reports.
The students from all grades, from kindergarten to high school, were evacuated to the outside area and then to a nearby gendarmerie headquarters, before being allowed to return to their classrooms around 13:30 local time after the completion of comprehensive security inspections supervised by the police and gendarmerie. The message contained a direct threat to use explosive materials and indicated that the sender belonged to a terrorist organization, which necessitated urgent precautionary measures. A psychological support unit was also activated to deal with the psychological trauma of the students, some of whom showed signs of distress during the evacuation, before they later returned to their classrooms smiling. The incident caused a temporary paralysis of traffic around the institution, while the school administration was keen to communicate with parents and guide them not to go to the school to avoid congestion, emphasizing that all necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of students and the teaching staff.
