Local authorities reported that a bus overturned in the early hours of Monday morning at the exit intersection of the "Krapyak" highway in Semarang, belonging to the Central Java province in Indonesia, resulting in the death of 15 people and the injury of 19 others.
According to data issued by the Search and Rescue Office in Semarang, the bus was traveling at an excessive speed before the driver lost control of it, colliding with a road barrier and overturning violently. Budiyono, the head of the Search and Rescue Office in the city, explained that the rescue operations faced significant difficulties due to a number of victims being trapped inside the bus, in addition to the shattered glass that hindered access to them. He added that the rescue teams were forced to enter the overturned bus and open special passages in order to carefully extract the injured, indicating that all victims had been evacuated and transferred to local hospitals to receive the necessary treatment.
