The captain of the Algerian national team, Riyad Mahrez, stressed on Tuesday in Rabat that the African Cup of Nations finals in Morocco represent an important milestone for the new generation of Algerian football, which combines young elements and some veteran players. Mahrez confirmed that the tournament is an opportunity to write a new history and present their best, adding: "We have no excuses for anything else."
Mahrez added during his speech at the press conference preceding the match against Sudan that criticism is normal with age or changing tournaments, but he focuses on the team's performance and achieving important results. He explained that the team's morale is high, and that the players' focus is on the first match against Sudan, confirming everyone's readiness to face pressure and take responsibility for defending the colors of Algeria.
Regarding playing in his mother's country, Morocco, Mahrez said: "We received a good welcome from our Moroccan brothers, and we are happy to be here. The most important thing is to present our best."
