The regional security forces in the city of Ouarzazate, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, succeeded in the early hours of Tuesday, December 23rd, in thwarting an attempt to smuggle drugs and seizing 16 bundles of hashish, with a total weight of approximately 458 kilograms.
During this security intervention, which was carried out at a traffic control point on the national road coming from the city of Tinghir towards Ouarzazate, the occupants of a four-wheel drive vehicle showed violent resistance and refused to comply, firing several gunshots that did not result in any physical injuries, which forced the police officers to use their functional weapons as a precaution, which enabled them to disable the movement of the car, which veered off course on a road slope.
The search of the vehicle, which was carrying forged license plates, led to the seizure of the seized hashish shipments, about twenty grams of cocaine, bladed weapons, and a firearm magazine containing two rounds, in addition to six forged car license plates.
The security services are continuing their combing operations at the scene of the intervention, characterized by its difficult mountainous terrain, in search of the users of the seized vehicle, with the aim of arresting them and subjecting them to a judicial investigation ordered by the competent Public Prosecution, to uncover all the extensions and criminal connections of this case.
