In conjunction with US President Donald Trump's hints about the possibility of renewed strikes on Iran, the commander of the aircraft carrier "USS George Washington," currently in the Arabian Sea, confirmed that it is maintaining readiness for defensive or preemptive action.
Captain Nicholas Delli-Gatti told The Wall Street Journal that the US military's mission is to develop options and present them to President Donald Trump.
"Extensive Resupply Operations"
The Wall Street Journal also revealed that the aircraft carrier "USS George Washington" has begun extensive resupply operations with weapons and provisions in preparation for any decision from the White House regarding Iran.
The resupply operations include large quantities of missiles for striking land targets from long distances, in addition to bunker-buster bombs, according to the American newspaper.
US President Donald Trump had previously put the ball in Tehran's court in his latest statements regarding the conflict's developments, stating that the United States might have to end its mission in Iran with a military operation or reach an agreement, emphasizing that the decision rests with Iran.
While Trump said he was unsure whether Iran would strike a deal with Washington or not, he affirmed that the United States would achieve its objective in either case.
All Options Remain on the Table
Trump also refrained from revealing the timing of any potential military operation against Iran, stressing that all options remain on the table.
Responding to a question about the extent of US planning for a potential attack on Iran, Trump said: Do you really think I would tell you that?
Trump added: Is it reasonable for someone from The Wall Street Journal to ask such a foolish question? To what extent…? Let me clarify, are we thinking of doing it? Maybe tomorrow!! Do you really think I would tell you? If I intend to take this step, which is a possibility, there is also a possibility that we reach a great, big, and beautiful deal. They want to make a deal, but the problem is: will they stick to this deal?
