After the end of the first round matches of the African Cup of Nations, initial figures revealed unprecedented fan attendance in the history of the competition.
After only the first round matches were held, the number of fans present in the stadiums approached about a quarter of a million spectators, a figure that exceeded what was recorded in the Ivory Coast edition, which is considered the most attended in terms of the number of fans. The total attendance in the first round reflects a clear difference between the two editions, as it reached a total of 236,849 spectators in the 2025 African Cup of Nations, compared to 157,313 in the 2023 edition. These figures take on greater importance if they are linked to the difficult climatic conditions that accompanied some matches, especially due to the heavy rainfall that did not encourage a large number of fans to attend the stadiums. Despite this, the public confirmed its great passion for football and its keenness to contribute to the success of this continental celebration. The provisional figures confirm that the African Cup of Nations edition held in Morocco is likely to break all previous records, both in terms of fan attendance and organizational level, which reflects the position that Morocco has come to occupy continentally and internationally, and its ability to host major sporting events in the best conditions.
