Andrey Kaprin, chief oncologist at the Russian Ministry of Health, said that the Russian anti-tumor vaccine "Enteromix" is currently undergoing the first phase of clinical trials.
Kaprin added that doctors are working at this stage to determine the optimal dose and assess the body's tolerance to the vaccine. He explained that the trials are being conducted at the National Medical Research Center of Radiology of the Russian Ministry of Health and include, in their first phase, the evaluation of safety and appropriate doses. He pointed out that after the completion of this phase and the approval of its results, the research will move to the second and third phases, where the therapeutic efficacy of the vaccine will be evaluated on a wider range of patients, stressing that the drug will not be launched in the markets until after passing all stages in accordance with the approved international standards, without haste that may affect safety. It is worth mentioning that the "Enteromix" vaccine was developed by experts from the National Medical Research Center of Radiology in cooperation with the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology, and it has shown promising results and high effectiveness in pre-clinical trials. Russia, which previously developed the "Sputnik" vaccine against the Corona virus, seeks to reserve a place for itself in the global race to develop therapeutic cancer vaccines based on "messenger ribonucleic acid" (mRNA) technology, the same technology that has proven highly effective during the pandemic.
