A circulating video clip showing a woman resisting the attempt of the local authorities in the Imazar Kandar commune to remove the "bash" belonging to a commercial store she owns, sparked widespread controversy on social media platforms.
After the authorities began attempting to remove the "bash", the woman in question clung to a crane, which caused a state of chaos in the middle of the market, and prompted citizens to gather and demand that the competent authorities stop the step.
The woman in question considered the decision of the municipal council to remove the "bash" of her store to be illegal, given her possession, as she claimed, of all the required documents, including the license.
After the uproar caused by the circulating video clip, Mustafa Lkhassem, the head of the municipal council of Imazar, issued official clarifications in which he confirmed that the woman does not have a license for the "bash".
Lkhassem said that the municipal council had previously established an internal law regarding the design standards for "bashes", explaining that the woman did not adhere to it, despite being warned about two weeks ago.
Lkhassem explained that the authorities asked the woman, in the first warning, to remove the "bash" and then redesign it to match the required legal standards, but she refused.
Lkhassem confirmed that the authorities did not wrong the concerned woman at all, as she had been warned more than once to remove the "bash" voluntarily, but she did not want to do so, which prompted the municipal council to take the necessary action and apply the law.
As for the claims that she has a license that confirms the legality of the "bash", Lkhassem asked the woman to reveal it if she has it.
Lkhassem pointed out that the suspension of the implementation of the municipal council's decision to remove this "bash" came because of the chaos created by the woman in the place, considering that this is unacceptable, in addition to the pleas of a number of citizens.
