The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense announced today, Tuesday, the withdrawal of the remaining counter-terrorism forces from Yemen, against the backdrop of recent security developments, and with the aim of ensuring the safety of its elements, according to an official statement.
The Ministry clarified that this decision falls within the path that the UAE began in 2019, after ending its direct military presence in Yemen after completing the tasks assigned to it within the Arab Coalition, noting that the subsequent presence was limited to specialized counter-terrorism teams in coordination with international partners. The statement affirmed that the participation of the UAE Armed Forces in Yemen since 2015 came in support of legitimacy and in support of international efforts to confront terrorist organizations, highlighting the sacrifices made by the UAE to enhance the security and stability of Yemen. The Ministry of Defense concluded by emphasizing that this measure reflects a comprehensive assessment of the requirements of the stage and comes within the framework of the UAE's commitment to supporting the security and stability of the region.
