Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune admitted to parliament on Tuesday that his country had failed to provide meat to citizens, calling on those working in the sector to work diligently and with zeal for the benefit of the people of Algeria, stressing that the funds allocated for importing meat should be invested domestically to better meet the needs of the people.
This statement came in light of what observers described as the policies of the current Kabranat regime, which, over the past years, has tried to cover up the acute shortage of vital food products, while citizens face daily challenges in obtaining meat at reasonable prices. Despite the successes announced by Tebboune in the fields of industry, pharmaceuticals, and mines, the military regime could not hide its failures in the food sector, highlighting the urgent need for real reforms to ensure food security for citizens. The President's admission comes after years of government promises, confirming that local investment in agriculture and farming is the only way to overcome the crisis and ensure market stability and meet the needs of the Algerian people in a sustainable manner.
