The Primary Court in the city of Targuest sentenced the parliamentarian from the Istiqlal Party, Nourredine Moudian, to six months in prison, on the grounds of the case in which his colleague in the party, Rafia Al-Mansouri, is following him.
The court had held a session last week to consider the file, before deciding to take it into deliberation, and the ruling was issued today, thus ending the primary stage of this judicial dispute that aroused widespread interest within political and media circles. The details of the case go back to a leaked audio recording attributed to MP Nourredine Moudian, which included statements that were considered offensive to Rafia Al-Mansouri, which prompted the latter to resort to the judiciary and follow him up on the basis of what was stated in the recording. It is expected, according to circulating data, that the defense of Nourredine Moudian will appeal the issued ruling, pending what the next stages of litigation will result in.
