On Thursday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia laid the foundation stone for the establishment of the world's largest government data center in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, with a total capacity estimated at 480 megawatts, contributing to the strengthening of the Saudi digital economy.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the center was designed according to the highest international standards to provide the highest degrees of security and operational readiness for government data centers and to meet the requirements of the authorities, with the growing reliance on electronic services. This center is a qualitative strategic push towards making the Kingdom a global data center, ensuring its data sovereignty and security, and enabling innovation and the digital economy, in addition to empowering government agencies, achieving the goals of "Vision 2030" to elevate the Kingdom among the best global economies based on data and artificial intelligence. The center was designed according to the global engineering standard "TIA-942," one of the most prominent engineering standards for data centers, which relies on an operational system with independent dual paths and systems, ensuring the reliability of operations technically, enhancing the efficiency of the technical infrastructure, and ensuring its high readiness even under extreme operating conditions, and ensuring the continuity of operation and the efficiency of services. The center will also include a high-performance computing infrastructure that allows advanced support for its technologies, in order to enhance the capabilities of the vital and developmental sectors in the Kingdom in adopting the rapid developments of artificial intelligence, attracting technical investments, and increasing the reliability of digital services in the Kingdom.
