In a move that reflects its increasing commitment to the inclusion of people with disabilities and the promotion of equal access to technology, Morocco stole the spotlight during the African Cup of Nations organized in the Kingdom, by presenting an unprecedented experience specifically for the blind and visually impaired, in an initiative considered the first of its kind on the African continent.
This innovative experience consists of providing spaces and technological displays designed according to the standards of comprehensive access, relying on smart digital solutions, including speaking applications, voice-interactive interfaces, and equipment that helps the blind interact directly with the displayed innovations, without the need for mediation, giving them an independent and complete experience to follow what is happening in the matches inside the stadium. The Moroccan initiative, which received widespread praise from participants and visitors, reflected a clear vision that makes technology a tool for social empowerment, not just digital luxury, and also highlighted the keenness of Moroccan actors, from public institutions and startups, to integrate the disability dimension into the digital transformation path, in harmony with the royal directives aimed at promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities. The experience was not limited to the technical aspect only, but also included the organization of interactive workshops and awareness spaces, which shed light on the capabilities and potential of the blind in the fields of innovation and digital entrepreneurship, while emphasizing that visual impairment does not constitute an obstacle to creativity and active participation in the digital economy. With this qualitative presence at the 2025 Africa CAN Morocco, the Kingdom consolidates its position as a regional player in the field of inclusive technology, and sends a strong message that the future of digitalization in Africa must be inclusive, open to all groups, and based on the principle of "leaving no one behind."
