Yassine Bounou, the goalkeeper of the Moroccan national team, continues to write his name in golden letters in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations, after he became a few steps away from equaling a record that had stood for years, recorded in the name of the legendary Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El Hadary.
This came after Bono's brilliance in the quarter-final match of the current edition of the "CAN", where he kept a clean sheet against the Cameroon national team, directly contributing to the Moroccan national team's victory with two goals to nil, and qualifying for the semi-finals. The Moroccan goalkeeper gave a steady and calm performance at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, to come out with a new clean sheet that reflects his technical value and great experience in decisive matches. The Moroccan national team benefited from the solidity of its back line, led by Bono, to continue its steady progress in the continental tournament, amid great ambitions to reach the final and win the title. With the last "clean sheet" record, Yassine Bono raised his tally to 10 matches without conceding any goal in the history of his participations in the Africa Cup of Nations, to become close to the record led by Essam El Hadary with 14 clean sheet matches. Bono currently occupies third place in the ranking of the most goalkeepers keeping a clean sheet in the history of the tournament, sharing this position with Ivorian Alain Gouaméné and Nigerian Vincent Enyeama. In second place behind El Hadary comes former Ivorian goalkeeper Boubacar Barry, who managed to keep a clean sheet in 11 matches in the Africa Cup of Nations, according to statistics from the "Stats Foot" platform, which specializes in sports figures and statistics.
