HIBAPRESS – Fikri Ouldali
The Criminal Court of First Instance in the Court of Appeal in Al Hoceima recently sentenced a teacher practicing his duties in a secondary school in the city to eight years in prison, with the costs borne without compulsion, after being followed in a state of release on charges of assaulting a minor using violence.
The details of the case go back to a complaint submitted by a minor student, who is studying in secondary school, accompanied by her family, to the competent authorities, in which she stated that she had been assaulted by the teacher in question. According to what was stated in the complaint, the suspect was giving support lessons outside of his official hours at the educational institution. According to the available data, the student resorted to the mentioned teacher to benefit from support sessions, before agreeing to receive individual lessons. The complaint indicated that the first session took place in a private place, where the teacher received the student at the entrance to his house instead of going to the place designated for lessons, after which the actions that formed the subject of the judicial follow-up occurred. After completing the investigation and follow-up procedures, and presenting the file to the competent court, the Criminal Court of First Instance ruled to convict the accused for what was attributed to him, and sentenced him to a custodial sentence of eight years in prison, in a decision that reflects the judiciary’s strictness in cases of assault on minors and protecting their rights.
