The X platform, formerly known as Twitter, experienced a widespread technical outage that caused the website and application to stop working for a large number of users around the world.
Users confirmed that the platform did not open at all, as they faced blank screens when trying to access it, while others received error messages related to Cloudflare services.
However, initial data suggested that the fault originated from the technical infrastructure of the X platform itself, not as a result of problems with Cloudflare services.
Unlike previous outages that allowed the site to appear without loading content, this outage prevented the platform from loading completely, whether via the website or smartphone applications.
The Down Detector website, which specializes in tracking technical outages, recorded a noticeable increase in reports around 3 p.m. UK time and 10 a.m. US Eastern time, reflecting the simultaneous occurrence of the outage on a global scale.
The X platform does not have a public page dedicated to displaying system status or outage updates, while the status page of its developer platform showed that all systems were operating normally during the outage period.
This outage comes just days after another technical outage that affected the platform, amid escalating criticism of the X company owned by Elon Musk, especially regarding the Grok chatbot, which has been accused of producing violent and offensive content.
Since Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter in 2022, there have been repeated concerns about the impact of staff reductions on the stability of the platform, and despite X's continued provision of services during the past period, it has recorded intermittent technical outages.
