The construction works of the Tamri dam on the Tamri wadi in Agadir are progressing, reaching 89%. Completion is expected by the end of May 2026. This project will provide the Greater Agadir area with drinking water, develop irrigation activities downstream of the dam, and protect the latter from flood risks.
The Tamri dam is also expected to contribute to creating job opportunities and qualifying the workforce in the region, improving farmers' income through the development and diversification of agricultural products, in addition to supplying the neighboring villages with drinking water, and promoting eco-tourism through the exploitation of the dam's lake.
The technical characteristics of this dam are embodied in a volume of 4.4 million cubic meters, with a storage capacity of 204 million cubic meters, and expected imports of 63 million cubic meters per year.
Nizar Baraka, the Minister of Equipment and Water, conducted a field visit to the construction site of the Tamri dam in Agadir on Friday to assess the progress of the works, in the presence of a number of officials and staff of the Ministry, as well as those responsible for preparing the dam and the technical teams.
