HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyawi
Despite the city of Sefrou's rich history and distinguished natural and tourism potential, the city still suffers from a clear deficit in development and a noticeable decline in its urban attractiveness. This has aroused the indignation of the residents and the annoyance of the visitors, and has caused the city to lose part of its sparkle that has long distinguished it from the rest of the region's cities.
Sefrou, the small city with a big spirit, was not long ago a model of coexistence and natural beauty, and a preferred destination for visitors thanks to its water springs, gardens, the old city, and the Cherry Festival of national and international fame. However, years of poor management and the absence of a clear development vision have made it suffer under the weight of neglect and live on the margins of major projects. Many local affairs followers agree that the former and current elected officials bear a large part of the responsibility because of their failure to implement real development programs and their reliance on the logic of seasonal management instead of strategic planning, which negatively reflected on the infrastructure, cleanliness, green spaces, and job opportunities. Today, and since the appointment of Abou Zaid as the governor of Sefrou province, the eyes of the population are turning towards the regional authority, waiting for a new spirit to be injected into the development path and to restore the city that has been marginalized. Will the current governor succeed in breaking the stagnation and correcting the imbalances of many years of chaotic management? Will he be able to impose real coordination between the various stakeholders and link responsibility with accountability? The bet today is great and requires administrative courage, political will, and the actual involvement of all actors, from elected officials, civil society, and the private sector, in order to transform Sefrou into a clean, organized, and attractive city that befits its history and its population. Despite the accumulated constraints, it is recorded that the current governor shows clear enthusiasm and a real will to serve the province and the city of Sefrou, through his field follow-up of a number of files and his endeavor to move the wheel of stalled projects. However, the success of any territorial official, no matter how committed he is, remains dependent on the availability of a cohesive team at the level of the challenges, capable of translating the directives into tangible achievements on the ground, as individual work cannot achieve the desired results, because one hand does not clap, and development is a collective responsibility that requires coordination and integration between the various stakeholders. The people of Sefrou do not demand the impossible, but only their right to fair development, concrete projects, and a city to be proud of, not to be lamented. Will the next phase be the beginning of correcting the course, or a continuation of disappointment? The coming days will provide the answer.
