The Rabat Court of First Instance today sentenced the Algerian youth Raouf Belqasmi, who was being followed in the wake of the incident of urinating inside a sports stadium, and sentenced him to three months in prison, after he was followed on charges of public indecency.
The details of the case go back to the spread of a video clip on social media documenting the Algerian youth's inappropriate behavior inside one of the stadium facilities, on the sidelines of the match between his country's team and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as part of the 2025 African Cup of Nations, hosted by Morocco. Following the spread of the clip, the security authorities intervened and opened a judicial investigation into the incident, and also arrested the person concerned in the city of Casablanca, before referring him to the competent Public Prosecution, which decided to follow up on him in a state of arrest until the end of the investigation. During the trial sessions, the person concerned was heard, where he faced the charges attributed to him related to behavior that the court considered to have violated public order and morals within a space dedicated to sports events, before a prison sentence was issued against him.
