HIBAPRESS
A bill has been submitted to the House of Representatives proposing to add one and a half days of paid annual leave for every five full years of service, by amending Article 40 of the General Statute of the Civil Service. The proposal, submitted by the Haraki group, stipulates that the total annual leave should not exceed 30 days of actual working days.
This amendment aims to value professional seniority and motivate employees, while maintaining balance within the public service. The current law stipulates an annual leave of 22 working days, granted after completing a full year of service. The proponents of the proposal explained that the current text no longer keeps pace with modern transformations in administration, considering that this amendment constitutes a first step towards establishing a more flexible incentive system, which enhances trust between the employee and the administration, and reduces professional stress, pending a comprehensive reform of the civil service law.
