As part of proactive measures to welcome the holy month of Ramadan, the regional authorities in the Oujda-Angad prefecture have intensified their efforts to ensure the normal flow of supplies to local markets and protect citizens' purchasing power from price fluctuations and illegal practices.
In this context, the Wali of the Oriental Region, the Governor of Oujda-Angad Prefecture, Imhamed Atfaoui, chaired an expanded meeting on Thursday, January 22nd, at the prefecture headquarters, in the presence of representatives of security services and relevant ministerial sectors, which was devoted to studying the current supply situation and outlining a strict work program for monitoring. This meeting coincided with the work of the Joint Ministerial Vigilance Committee at the Ministry of Interior headquarters, where it was confirmed that the local markets in the region are currently witnessing abundance and a noticeable variety in basic food items, which dispels any fears about shortages during the holy month.
During the review of field data, the specialized committee recorded positive indicators that were represented in: a decrease in the prices of basic materials: which contributed to easing the pressure on family budgets recently; temporary fluctuation in the prices of vegetables: which officials attributed to the recent rainfall that hampered harvesting and marketing operations in the field, stressing that it is a transient situation that will end as soon as the weather stabilizes; expected stability: it is expected that the next few weeks will witness the pumping of additional quantities of goods, which will lead to strengthening supply and greater price stability.
In addition to supply, the local authorities put consumer protection at the top of their priorities. In this regard, strict instructions were issued to the monitoring and follow-up teams with the aim of decisively confronting speculation: and cracking down on those who manipulate prices or stocks; quality control: ensuring that the displayed materials comply with health and preventive standards to protect the safety of citizens; legal deterrence: activating legal procedures against violators to ensure transparency in commercial transactions.
These proactive movements also confirm the authorities' commitment in the Oujda-Angad prefecture to create favorable conditions for citizens, to ensure that they spend the month of Ramadan in an atmosphere of tranquility and abundance.
